Newcastle United Methodist Church has a variety of community based outreach projects that foster stability and good relationships with those in need.

Food Pantry

Our biggest ongoing outreach is our Food Pantry.

Our food pantry was started years ago when one of our youth, who was also a Girl Scout, saw a need in our community. She convinced the church to make a food pantry as part of the addition being build onto the church. The food pantry has been serving those in Newcastle and the surrounding communities over 15 years!

The food pantry is run on donations only. We receive donations from the church, the scouting for food drive through the Boy Scouts, and food drives through Newcastle Public Schools.

Our pantry gives nonperishable staple items to help supplement a family’s pantry. Visitors may come to the pantry once a month.

Our food pantry operational hours are:

3rd Tuesday of the month from 5:30-7pm

4th Tuesday of the month from 9:30-11am

Blessing Box

The box states- We want to share our love and prayers with you. This box is filled to brighten your day or give a hand to one in need. It can even make new friends when shared.

Our blessing box is located on the south end of the parking lot. Non perishable food is kept in the box as well as some hygiene products. This box is refilled a couple of times a week.

Donations of food a hygiene products are also welcomed in this box.

Cups of Love

Cups of Love offers love and support to those in need or facing a change in their lives requiring some assistance on many different levels. Some of the items Cups of Love is able to assist with is clothing, food, hygiene items, household supplies and occasionally furniture.

We DO NOT provide cash or monetary assistance, but will try to locate needed items from community sources as available.

Cups of Love is designed to be a short term assistance program. As many of the needs are for immediate use, we tend to launder and package items for this purpose. We try to use new items when possible but do use gently used and cleaned items when needed. Not all requested items are available, but every effort will be made to acquire them.

We not only help church ministries such as Redemption church and Kairos prison ministries, we also help community programs. We also provide assistance for disaster relief (such as fire or tornado).

Cups of Love welcomes tax deductible donations to help provide the items needed. We take gently used and cleaned donations but please contact NUMC to make sure if the items are currently needed and have a place to be stored.

If you know of a person in need, please let them know of this outreach ministry. Examples of those who might need love, support, and assistance from Cups of Love include

Homeless population, elderly, low income, DHS/foster children, disabled, new parents

May we try to demonstrate God’s love and follow in his ministry of doing for all of God’s children. Enjoy a Cup of Love on us!

Thanksgiving Dinner

On Thanksgiving Day every year, we offer a FREE dinner to our community. In 2018 we celebrated our 5th year with feeding over 200 people! We also deliver food to home bound residents and feed our police, fire and EMTs that day. Come join us and enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with dessert.

Hours are 11am-2pm
