Advent 2020

Sunday, November 29, we began a worship series titled “Angels among us”. The sanctuary decorations are breathtaking and help us to focus on peace. As we continue this series, feel free to share our online experience with others. Use the hashtags #donotbeafraid and #morehope. We will share as many pictures as possible, until we are able to worship together in person on December 20th.

Upcoming Auction Luncheon

We are excited for our upcoming auction luncheon on Sunday September 22nd! We will be auctioning off some great items such as a cross made by Ron DeShazo and a homemade fall flower arrangement from Darlene Rosebrook! We encourage church members to donate a baked good or homemade item for the auction and bring family and friends! If you know a business owner or own a business yourself, please consider donating a product or service! We will have a professional auctioneer overseeing the event and it should be great fun!

Back to School Bash! 8/16/19

NUMC had a GREAT back to school bash this month! We had 18 school age kids attend and we played lots of games, ate TONS of pizza, and made some great new friends! Lifesize Clue was the overall favorite activity and congratulations to the Marauders team who won the game! We are so blessed to have great friends in our community and we are optimistic about our youth programs this fall after this amazing kickoff!

Luau Luncheon

NUMC had a wonderful luau luncheon to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year! Highlights included our awesome “Aloha” photo area, Harry’s grass skirt, and one of Herman’s amazing German chocolate cakes! We can’t wait for our next fellowship event!

End of Summer Recap

The summer of 2019 has come and gone here at Newcastle UMC. This season within the church is used as a time of planning and reflection before the business of the school year and Charge Conference season catches up with us. We have had many blessings over the past three months with the installation of our new digital piano in the sanctuary and our slate of family friendly events that included a Dodgers game and a drive in movie! The Lord is working within the congregation of NUMC now more than ever as we go into a time of discernment to determine what comes next for our ever growing church home.

Our presence on social media and the internet has also grown immensely this summer with the launch of our new website and the Living Hope sermon series, as well as our weekly Facebook stream of our sermons. We are growing and connecting with more people than ever before! We hope that these new technological endeavors strengthen our connection to our congregation and our community as a whole.

Our fall programming for children and youth will kick off with a bang at our Back to School Bash next week! We are excited to play many games together as well as do a school supply drive for those in need!We are also so excited to resume our Tutoring and Mentorship program in a bigger and better way this year to help even more children and youth succeed academically and give them the opportunity for connection here at NUMC. We are also excited to host the Newcastle Racers football team for two pre-game meals this fall as well as invest in our teachers by donating school supplies throughout the year.

This summer season at Newcastle UMC has been challenging, uplifting and eyeopening and we can’t wait for what God has in store for us in the fall!

New Sermon Series “LIVING HOPE” is now live!

Pastor Lamarla was inspired by the name of this year’s annual conference titled “Living Hope” based on scripture from 1 Peter. Over the three weeks following Pentecost, she covered different stories and illustrations on how we as people can be living hope for those around us
